Multi-factor authentication (MFA) protects you from unauthorized third-party use and thus makes an important contribution to data security. You choose whether you want to receive confirmation codes by email, SMS, or in an authenticator app.
However, if you can no longer access the code, for example if you lose your cell phone or uninstall the Authenticator app, you can request a recovery code to regain access to your account.
Resetting the MFA setting works both when confirming in two steps via an authenticator app and SMS.
Resetting the MFA via an authenticator app and SMS
After you have logged in with your e-mail address and password, you will receive further instructions:
Then enter the email you use in Falcon.
You will then receive an email asking you to confirm the request again.
The Customer Success Team will now be informed of your request and will check it. In order not to be able to bypass the security barriers that have been set up, we also use the human factor to check whether your account has been compromised.
After verification, we will send you the recovery code by email.
You can use this code once in the following 24 hours to log in.
Reactivating two-factor authentication
Once you have logged into your account again, you should adjust the security settings immediately. Otherwise, the MFA reset process would have to be requested again after logging out.
You can manage the multi-factor authentication settings in your user account. To do this, click on your user account at the bottom left and on the "Security" tab.
First of all you have to deactivate the Authenticator app or SMS dispatch. This will finally reset the old channel that is no longer available.
You can then set up authentication via app or SMS again and connect your new device
The following steps for activating two-step authentication are explained here in detail.
We strongly recommend that you activate MFA via an app, as this is an effective way of preventing insecure passwords and unauthorized access to your account.
